Brian Kendrick Confirms Involvement With WWE Backlash

Brian Kendrick helped out with WWE Backlash

Brian Kendrick has confirmed he was involved at WWE's recent Backlash pay-per-view, helping Bad Bunny train for his San Juan Street Fight against Damian Priest.

"I think because of the comfort level we had built with Bunny and I, they requested me to come back for that. I know Bunny put in a lot of training. He was training for months. I thought the match was awesome," Kendrick stated on the Hitting the Turnbuckle podcast, while also confirming that he did not produce the Backlash match.

Kendrick previously helped Bad Bunny train for his in-ring debut at WrestleMania 37. The award-winning rapper teamed with Damian Priest to defeat The Miz and John Morrison at the 2021 event.

Kendrick has had multiple runs in WWE since 2002. He was a producer and coach in NXT until early 2022, when he was granted his release by the organisation. The former Spanky looked set to have a run in AEW and was booked to debut on Dynamite in February of last year against Jon Moxley, but the match was scrapped after offensive remarks made by Kendrick in the past resurfaced.

The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion was involved at Survivor Series 2022, being brought in at the request of Ronda Rousey to produce her SmackDown Women's Title match against Shotzi.
