Brian Kendrick Gains WWE Release, Will Face Jon Moxley On AEW Dynamite

The man has a new plan

Recent WWE producer Brian Kendrick will debut for AEW on Wednesday night in Chicago, facing Jon Moxley on Dynamite, as announced by the company on Tuesday evening.

News of the match comes shortly after public confirmation that Kendrick is no longer under contract with WWE.

PWInsider had previously reported that Kendrick asked for his WWE release. An update from Fightful Select confirms that Kendrick is no longer bound to WWE.

Within the hour of Fightful's report, AEW announced Kendrick's debut match against Moxley. It is not confirmed if Kendrick is signed full-time with the promotion.

The former WWE Cruiserweight and Tag Team champion last wrestled in October 2020 on 205 Live. He was last seen in an angle on NXT 2.0 in December, in which Harland threw him down a flight of stairs. This was to set up a return bout for Kendrick, but it never came to be.

The card for Wednesday's AEW Dynamite, taking place at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, is as follows:

* CM Punk vs. MJF

* Jon Moxley vs. Brian Kendrick

* Ruby Soho vs. Nyla Rose

* Pac and Penta El Zero Miedo vs. Malakai Black and Brody King
