Britt Baker Suspended By AEW Over Backstage Incident

Britt Baker has reportedly been suspended by AEW for backstage conduct

Britt Baker has reportedly been suspended by All Elite Wrestling due to a backstage incident.

The former AEW Women’s World Champion was last seen on the Blood & Guts special of Dynamite on July 24, being jumped by the debuting Kamille on Mercedes Moné’s behalf after Baker’s win over Hikaru Shida. Per a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, ‘The Dentist’ was subsequently suspended for either one or two weeks, stemming from an incident backstage on the July 17 episode of Dynamite.

The report states that Baker allegedly commented about MJF, with MJF's girlfriend Alicia Atout - a backstage interviewer in AEW - relaying said comments to MJF who later confronted Baker over them. Whilst it’s unknown what was said either by Baker or between Baker and MJF, AEW’s disciplinary committee saw fit to step in, with an investigation on July 24 into the incident being undertaken by the committee and AEW HR, with Baker suspended and fined as a result.

Meltzer states that he is unaware as to whether AEW President Tony Khan was directly involved in the investigation or the decision, with everyone in AEW allegedly looking to keep this all ‘under wraps’.

Past issues in AEW’s locker rooms saw a disciplinary committee established, with Bryan Danielson heading up said committee. Meltzer states that most in AEW are sympathetic to Baker in this instance.

UPDATE: Further details about why AEW suspended Britt Baker have been revealed since publication.
