Brock Lesnar Calls Out UFC Heavyweight Champion

Lesnar made an unannounced appearance at UFC 226.

Brock Lesnar made an appearance at the end of last night's UFC 226 pay per view, calling out UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier.

Cormier had just knocked out Stipe Miocic to become a double-champion in UFC, simultaneously holding the Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight Championships.

During his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, Cormier called out Lesnar, who was present for the event. Lesnar entered the octagon and shoved Cormier, before getting on the mic himself and proclaiming that he intends to take the Heavyweight title from the new champion.

Lesnar was notably without the WWE Universal Championship. His status as the top champion on Raw has attracted criticism throughout much of 2018, mainly stemming from the fact that Lesnar works a very limited WWE schedule - making few appearances, and even fewer title defences.

Since winning the Universal Championship from Goldberg at WrestleMania 33, Lesnar has only defended the belt six times (not including house show matches). His most recent defence came at the Greatest Royal Rumble event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where he defeated Roman Reigns under controversial circumstances in a steel cage match.

Lesnar's challenge to Cormier seems to have confirmed (or at least fuelled) rumours that the pair will clash in Madison Square Garden in November. This would presumably mean that Lesnar has to drop the Universal Championship at some point before then, with the most likely date being SummerSlam - WWE's biggest show between now and then.

However, that hasn't necessarily been confirmed. A number one contender for Brock's title hasn't yet been confirmed, nor has a date for his next defence.
