Bruce Prichard, one of the key backstage figures within WWE, will be scaling back his role with the company following WrestleMania 43.
PWInsider has reported that Prichard is expected to leave his position as executive director of creative writing and talent following WrestleMania season, although he will remain connected to WWE in a consulting capacity. Fightful Select also noted that Prichard will be working from home much more due to requiring a "very serious surgery." The WWE executive is reportedly already feeling rough physically.
Bruce Prichard has long been associated with WWE stretching back to when he joined the company as Brother Love in 1987, with Prichard becoming one of Vince McMahon's right-hand men on WWE creative. With the exception of a 16-month stint in 1991 and 1992, Prichard remained a key figure behind the scenes in WWE until he was fired in 2008.
Following his WWE release, Prichard worked in creative roles for TNA Wrestling from 2010 to 2013 and he made a brief on-screen return in 2017. Prichard also worked as a producer in MLW in 2018, while he grew in popularity following the launch of the Something to Wrestle podcast with Conrad Thompson in 2016.
Prichard would return to WWE in 2019 as a full-time member of the creative team. Prichard's power behind the scenes quickly grew and he was considered the most powerful person in WWE that wasn't a member of the McMahon family by late 2020, with Prichard serving as Vince McMahon's right-hand man as executive director of Raw and SmackDown.
After Vince McMahon was no longer a part of WWE creative, Prichard remained heavily involved behind the scenes, becoming a right-hand man to WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H and running WWE tapings when Paul Levesque was not available. Prichard's current role sees him oversee the creative teams for Raw, SmackDown, and NXT and report to Triple H.
