The first ever All Elite Wrestling WrestleDream takes place on October 1, and is set to finally pit Bryan Danielson against Zack Sabre Jr. in a true technical wrestling dream match.
The match was originally set for Forbidden Door I in 2022 but Danielson was out injured, forcing ZSJ to take on a debuting Claudio Castagnoli instead. Heading into WrestleDream, Danielson is coming off two intense violent bloodbaths with Ricky Starks, and has not long returned from injury.
According to a report in the NYPost, Danielson has been ‘fully cleared’ to perform at WrestleDream, with it revealed that this will be the first match post-injury that he has been ‘fully’ cleared for. The American Dragon’s two wars with Starks were easier to get clearance for due to being gimmick matches as opposed to out-and-out wrestling bouts, with the shortcuts afforded by gimmicks allowing for easier clearance.
Danielson broke his arm during another dream bout - this time with Kazuchika Okada at Forbidden Door II in June - and he returned early post-surgery to help ease the burden on AEW following CM Punk’s firing after All In in August.
