Bryan Danielson Receives Legal Letter From WWE

WWE sends Bryan Danielson a legal letter

WWE reached out to Bryan Danielson earlier this year, although likely not in the way he was expecting.

Danielson filed to trademark 'Yes! Yes! Yes!' on July 29 with the United States Patent & Trademark Office as the term was available within pro wrestling. Speaking with Luke James Chats ahead of All In, Danielson revealed he actually received a legal email from WWE about the trademark informing him he was "infringing."

"Well so, it's weird. I applied for it but then I got - it wasn't necessarily a cease-and-desist. I got some sort of legal letter from WWE (he laughed). Listen, listen, it's really weird because my manager just texted me and said, 'Hey, this thing is available. Do you wanna get it?' And I was like, 'How much does it cost?' And it wasn't that much and I was like, 'Okay, sure' and then, shortly after that, I got an email from WWE saying, oh, 'This is infringing' on this or that or whatever and I'm like, 'Dude, I'm not trying to sell anybody anything. I just do my thing,'" Danielson said.

Danielson popularised the 'Yes!' chant during his time in WWE, particularly during his rise to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XXX. While crowds would perform the 'Yes!' chant, Danielson didn't use the action in All Elite Wrestling until Forbidden Door 2023 but the pose has been utilised regularly since then, including at All In when he won the AEW World Championship.

Danielson noted back in 2021 that he agreed during a conversation with Kevin Dunn not to use the pose in AEW. Danielson has been gone from WWE for three years, however, and Kevin Dunn is also no longer with the company.
