The dream match is official.

While Kazuchika Okada had already accepted Bryan Danielson's challenge to a match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on Sunday, June 25 in Toronto, Canada, New Japan Pro-Wrestling made the match official at a press conference today.

Okada noted in the press conference that he was flattered by Danielson's challenge, before adding: "Last year I wrestled at Forbidden Door, but it was against Jay White, Adam Cole and Hangman Page, people I'd wrestled before. This time, it's against someone new, and a big AEW star, so I'm looking forward to it. But this is a battle of NJPW vs AEW, so I plan on carrying NJPW on my shoulders and winning for the company and the New Japan fans."

The match came about after Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi, and Tomohiro Ishii successfully defended their NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Titles against Shota Umino and Blackpool Combat Club's Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli at Dominion on Sunday, June 4. Moxley threw to the titantron after the match and Danielson declared he was the best wrestler in the world before issuing the challenge to Okada.

Also official for Forbidden Door is the rematch between Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship. The two competitors clashed in a match-of-the-year contender at Wrestle Kingdom 17 in January. Omega won on that occasion to capture the IWGP US Title but Ospreay earned the rematch after winning a number one contender's tournament, defeating Lance Archer in the final at Dominion.

Ospreay has since gone on to insult Canada, firmly establishing himself as the heel heading into Forbidden Door.
