Cash Wheeler's Trial Scheduled To Begin On May 20

He faces up to five years in prison if convicted.

The trial of AEW star Cash Wheeler is scheduled to begin on May 20 before the Orange County Court in Florida. There will be a pre-trial hearing in the case on May 7, which the 36-year-old is required to attend.

Wheeler has been charged with aggravated assault with a firearm (a third-degree felony in Florida), stemming from an incident that took place last July.

He was arrested in August 2023 after a warrant for his arrest was filed on July 28. It is alleged that the former WWE  Tag Team Champion "flashed a gun" at someone during a road rage incident. An attorney for Wheeler stated that the wrestler did not know the alleged victim.

If convicted, Wheeler could face a maximum of five years' imprisonment, five years' probation and a $5,000 fine. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Wheeler has continued to perform on AEW television while the court case lingers in the background. He last wrestled for the promotion at the Dynasty pay-per-view on April 21, where he and FTR partner Dax Harwood lost an AEW World Tag Team Title ladder match to The Young Bucks.

Harwood reportedly suffered a concussion during the bout.
