Charlie Dempsey Makes WWE NXT Debut

Charlie Dempsey made his NXT debut on last night's show

Charlie Dempsey made his NXT debut on last night's episode of the show.

He appeared in a vignette with the Andre Chase University group, being introduced as someone that Andre had been impressed with on Chase U's recent excursion to the United Kingdom.

Dempsey then used various submission holds on Chase U students, before being admonished by Chase himself (who said they were only practice drills and that he was not meant to hurt them).

Dempsey said that if they wanted a homework assignment, they should look up Billy Robinson (a notorious British wrestler and 'shooter' who became a notable trainer in later life).

Real name Bailey Matthews, Dempsey is the son of William Regal. He had been competing for NXT UK since early 2021.

Dempsey's NXT debut comes after much of the NXT UK roster were released, with WWE effectively closing the brand and replacing it with NXT Europe, which will launch in 2023. Other notable NXT UK talents in Tyler Bate, Blair Davenport, and Gallus' Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey, and Wolfgang made their way to the United States last week.
