Chris Jericho Claims Him Beating Konosuke Takeshita Was Best For The Story

Chris Jericho has defended his victory over Konosuke Takeshita

Konosuke Takeshita is one of All Elite Wrestling’s most exciting prospects, with Takeshita positioned as a major heel, with two clean victories over Kenny Omega on pay-per-view cementing his status in the company.

Despite being well protected in AEW, Takeshita suffered a shock loss to Chris Jericho in his former home promotion DDT Pro, eliciting negative reactions from sections of the AEW fan base. Chris Jericho has defended the booking, though, saying the following on the Talk is Jericho podcast:

"I tapped him out, everybody was very surprised. This is a story that we're doing and the best way to do it was for me to win right out of the gate. Is it the last match Takeshita and I are going to have? Of course not. Was it a great way to re-establish myself in Japan and establish myself in DDT? Absolutely, it was the right why to go. Nobody loses when you have a match like that. It was a great contest all across the board," Jericho said.

Jericho has been feuding with Don Callis and his Family in AEW, of which Takeshita is a focal part.
