Claudio Castagnoli: I Thought Vince McMahon Was Wrong About Me Lacking Charisma

Charisma comes in different forms for Claudio Castagnoli

While Claudio Castagnoli (FKA Cesaro) would win plenty of gold in WWE, ending his run in the company as a multi-time tag team champion and former United States Champion, many felt The Swiss Cyborg did not reach his potential in the organisation primarily due to Vince McMahon's booking.

McMahon mentioned back in 2014 that Cesaro had the physical attributes to be a WWE star but he lacked charisma and verbal skills.

Castagnoli was asked about his former boss' comments at Starrcast V and the ROH World Champion noted he thought McMahon was wrong.

"I thought he was wrong. I feel charisma comes in different forms, shapes, sizes. Not everybody has that over-the-top Ultimate Warrior, shaking the ropes, crazy yelling, screaming type of charisma. Not that I'm sitting here telling you how awesome my charisma is, but I felt I had a connection with the fans in the United States and all over the world," Claudio said.

"While other people are known for long promos that are translated in many languages and doesn't always come across, my stuff was about the in-ring work and people can connect with that. It may take a bit longer, but I did connect with a lot of fans and they were behind me. I don't know if it's not what he was looking for, but in the end, it brought me here and you guys are here to see me."

Castagnoli left WWE earlier this year and he made his All Elite Wrestling debut at June's Forbidden Door pay-per-view. He then captured the ROH World Championship at Death Before Dishonor on July 23.
