CM Punk Comments On Possible Backstage Tension In AEW

Is CM Punk liked backstage in AEW?

Ahead of Double Or Nothing, Hangman Page hinted there was some tension behind the scenes between CM Punk and the AEW locker room, portraying Punk as an outsider within the promotion who The Anxious Millenial Cowboy had to stop from capturing the AEW World Title.

Page would ultimately fail in that task in the main event of the May 29 pay-per-view, losing the world title to Punk, and the new world champion commented on any possible backstage tension during the post-Double Or Nothing media scrum.

"I've grown so wise in my old age that I'll do my best to be as diplomatic as I possibly can with this answer. If there are people backstage that don't like me, it's a minority. If anybody says that nobody wants me here or nobody likes me, I like to say that nobodies don't want me here and nobodies don't like me," Punk said.

How Punk's AEW World Title reign will pan out ultimately remains to be seen, but The Second City Saviour named Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Will Ospreay, Ricky Starks, Bryan Danielson, and Jungle Boy as possible opponents at Forbidden Door and beyond.
