CM Punk dropped a not-so subtle reference to All Elite Wrestling during his commentary at CFFC's MMA event on Saturday, amid speculation he will make his debut for AEW later this week.

As Lucas Hoffman and Harvey Mardis battled each other on the ground at Saturday's event, Punk's commentary partner John Morgan set the 42-year-old to make reference to Tony Khan's wrestling promotion.

Morgan said: "Like in the first round, Hoffman is just returning to his wrestling. You know what I’m saying, Punk? Returning to his wrestling."

Punk responded quickly: “Yeah, he’s looking all elite, right now."

The duo each then made a reference to making inside jokes while doing their commentary jobs.

Punk's 'all elite' utterance will only add further fuel to the fire that the former WWE Champion is set to return to wrestling - following a seven-year absence - with AEW at AEW Rampage this week.

With AEW The First Dance being presented from Chicago on Friday, reports suggest Punk will make his long-awaited return to wrestling at the event.
