CM Punk Suffers ‘Significant’ Injury At WWE Royal Rumble

CM Punk injured at WWE Royal Rumble

CM Punk is injured.

The 45-year-old competed in his first televised WWE match in 10 years at the Royal Rumble on January 27. Punk entered at #27 and made it to the final two before being eliminated by winner Cody Rhodes.

WWE still had major plans for Punk on the horizon in a World Heavyweight Championship match against Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40. That match may now be off, however.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, CM Punk sustained a ‘significant’ injury during the men’s Royal Rumble match. The exact nature of Punk’s injury is unknown but there is speculation the Second City Saint sustained a torn triceps. There was a moment in the Rumble following a Futureshock DDT from Drew McIntyre when Punk told a referee “my triceps”, so this may have been when he sustained the injury.

WWE did not confirm the exact nature of the injury to Meltzer but CM Punk will address the injury on tonight’s edition of Monday Night Raw.

Punk has a history of triceps injuries, having previously suffered a torn triceps in the main event of All Out 2022. Punk suffered the injury then had his infamous post-show media scrum rant and then brawl with The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega. He was out of action from September 2022 until June 2023.
