Cody Rhodes Discusses Roman Reigns' Comments On AEW Not Being Competition

During a recent interview with Sport1...

Back in August, Roman Reigns said that it was generous to call All Elite Wrestling competition for WWE.

In an interview with Sport1, He explained: "I think (Seth Rollins) is being generous calling them a competition...I've said it before; its an option and that's great for professional wrestlers, pretty cool for fans...But at the end of the day, WWE is my home, its what I represent and we're so far ahead."

Over the weekend, Cody Rhodes had his own interview with Sport1, in which they asked him about Reigns' comments. Rhodes was respectful towards WWE, but he admitted AEW existed to be the alternative to them because fans have been clamouring for something different for the last 20 years since WCW folded.

The American Nightmare said: "To Roman's point: He is very, very smart, he has a WrestleMania main event under his belt, he has incredible talent. I think at the time, a lot of people were, I don't want to say naive. People were turning away from it, but there's no turning away now. WWE's on a 49 year head start and I tip my hat for that. But what we're doing is to build upon what fans have been talking about for 20 years, what they want from a wrestling product and what perhaps wasn't delivered to them. We want to be the alternative. If that means stepping into competition, So be it. It's better to have competition, for me, for Roman, for everybody."
