Cody Rhodes, especially when he was Undisputed WWE Champion, placed an emphasis on being WWE's QB1 or quarterback, but that element of Cody's gimmick has now been dropped.

Rhodes updated his X/Twitter profile in recent days and he has removed the reference to himself as the 'Quarterback' from his bio. Cody's bio now sits blank.

Rhodes had referred to himself as a quarterback for several years, calling himself AEW's quarterback when he addressed his infamous flaming table spot with Andrade from AEW Dynamite. Rhodes as a QB1 was mentioned on WWE programming at the beginning of 2025, something Cody addressed with Sports Illustrated.

"Yes, until you start getting into the actual X's and O's of like I don't want anyone to think I can throw them a pass...I don't know if I can do that but in terms of winning this championship, they have very much put me in a position to run the play, to lead WWE. Triple H has been an outstanding mentor. If I'm the quarterback, the three head coaches are amazing, Triple H, Nick Khan, and The Rock," Cody said in January 2025.

Cody Rhodes has not appeared on WWE TV since dropping the Undisputed WWE Championship to John Cena in the main event of WrestleMania 41. Rhodes has continued to be advertised for shows - including as recently as the May 16 edition of SmackDown - but he has yet to return to TV. Speculation has suggested he could return in time for Money in the Bank, though, as a tag team match featuring John Cena and Travis Scott has been pitched for the June 7 pay-per-view.
