On this week's episode of AEW: Dynamite, former WWE Superstars Luke Harper, now Brodie Lee, and Matt Hardy made their debuts in the young promotion. This adds to the growing list of former WWE stars working in AEW as Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley, PAC, Dustin Rhodes, and Cody Rhodes can already be found plying their trade on TNT.

This has led a small section of professional wrestling fans to criticise the new promotion for simply being a collection of WWE cast offs not worthy of being on TV. This is despite the fact that AEW has a whole host of talent who have never competed in WWE like Britt Baker, MJF, Kenny Omega, and Orange Cassidy.

After Cody welcomed The Broken One to AEW, a fan took the opportunity to criticise The American Nightmare for signing Hardy. Rhodes felt the need to address this, however, as he replied: "Talent is talent. Merit based company. We have a great roster from all types of places(mainly blossoming independent stars). It's a great balance."

Another fan then listed the ex-WWE Superstars the young promotion has signed, to which Cody fired back: "Darby, Luchasauras, Orange, Britt, Jungle, Private Party, etc etc More unknown then known. Fresh is the term we like. Nice balance. Fresh approach."
