WWE have pushed back on claims that Shawn Michaels will be replacing Bruce Prichard as executive director of creative writing and talent in the aftermath of WrestleMania 43.

A report from PWInsider recently noted that Shawn Michaels was the current planned successor to Bruce Prichard after Prichard scales back his role following WWE's biggest show of 2027, but Fightful Select has noted that some in WWE have pushed back on the idea of HBK replacing Prichard. A lot of the speculated changes coming to NXT in 2027 as a result of Michaels' potentially moving to the main roster were said to be either not true or "nowhere near solidified."

Prichard is transitioning to working from home following WrestleMania 43 due to requiring neck surgery, with the expectation being that his new role would be in a consulting capacity.

Reports had also noted that AJ Styles was being lined up as the replacement for Shawn Michaels as the head of NXT, with it later being claimed that Styles was already "quietly running things" at the WWE Performance Center. Fightful Select has now reported that Styles has not been running things at the WWE training facility but he is seen as a "constant and positive presence" and he is expected to gain more influence as time progresses.

To further muddy the waters about WWE's succession plans, though, Wrestling Observer noted, "The current belief is that the PWInsider report is more accurate than the Fightful report. However, there is no timeframe for these changes, no changes are expected before WrestleMania 43, and things could change between now and then."

So Shawn Michaels replacing Bruce Prichard may happen or it may not happen, but it won't become clear until around WrestleMania 43.
