In something that would have appeared unlikely in the mid-1990s, D-Generation X are set to run creative on the WWE main roster from 2027.

PWInsider has reported that Shawn Michaels is currently planned to be Bruce Prichard's replacement as WWE executive director of creative writing and talent when Prichard scales back his WWE role following WrestleMania 43. The succession plan has reportedly been in place for some time.

Prichard is set to remain connected to WWE by working from home in a consulting capacity after WrestleMania 43. Prichard is stepping away due to requiring a "very serious surgery" and he is already feeling rough physically.

Michaels, a close friend of WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque, has worked behind the scenes in WWE since 2018, initially as a coach and producer on NXT, and he became the head of creative for NXT in September 2021 after Triple H stepped away following his cardiac event. Michaels, in his role as senior vice president of talent development, has been in charge of NXT creative ever since.

With Michaels stepping up to Raw and SmackDown, Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer has reported it looks like AJ Styles will be replacing HBK as the head of NXT. Bayley and CM Punk may also have more input into NXT in 2027 and the belief is there will be further NXT office changes next year.
