Cody Rhodes Reveals He Was Offered Sting AEW Match

Cody Rhodes confirms he was offered a match with Sting prior to AEW departure

Current WWE star Cody Rhodes has confirmed that the last match he was offered in All Elite Wrestling was with Sting.

Speaking with Sports Illustrated ahead of his match this past weekend with Damian Priest at Crown Jewel, 'The American Nightmare' had this to say about 'The Icon':

"The last match I was offered in AEW was that match. It wasn't confirmed or anything like that, but just the little I had to do with his debut there is a wonderful memory. I was a little Stinger. Maybe I'll pull out a Stinger Splash in his honour. Seriously, cheers to a wonderful career," said Rhodes.

Sting is currently in the final run of his career, with his last match set to take place at the AEW Revolution 2024 pay-per-view.

The 64-year-old recently noted that he planned to retire at the end of this year, but changed his plans now that noted rival Ric Flair is in AEW by his side. Sting has said that he and his fellow WWE Hall of Famer will go out in a 'blaze of glory'.
