Apr 18, 2022
Curtis Axel and Ariya Daivari recently returned to WWE, with both having try-outs in producer capacities.
Former Intercontinental Champion Axel has been producing for WWE for several weeks on a trial basis - per Fightful - with Axel reportedly working the SmackDown April 8 tapings, working directly under TJ Wilson (Tyson Kidd) when producing the Sasha Banks vs. Liv Morgan segment.
This marks a return to the wrestling business for Axel, who last wrestled in February 2020 before being released from his WWE contract in April of that year. The son of the legendary ‘Mr. Perfect’ Curt Hennig, Axel is a former one-time WWE Intercontinental Champion, and two-time WWE Tag Team Champion.
Daivari has also been working on a trial basis for several weeks, reportedly working underneath Chris Park (Abyss) when producing the Sami Zayn vs. Drew McIntyre match on the April 8 SmackDown.
Since being released by WWE in June 2021, Daivari has been very active on the wrestling scene, working for NJPW, NWA, and AEW amongst others.
