Dakota Kai Comments On Scrapped WWE Main Roster Call-Up

Kai was under the impression she would be called up during the 2021 draft

WWE star Dakota Kai has revealed that the company had originally told her she would be called up to the main roster as part of the 2021 draft.

Kai had begun working dark matches at television tapings that summer, but was sent back to NXT before being released in April of this year.

Speaking on a recent edition of Out of Character with Ryan Satin, the current Women's Tag Team Champion said:

"That's when I was like, 'okay, maybe something is going to happen here'. Yeah, I just ended up doing like about six or seven [dark matches], it was a lot, and they were back to back to back. I was told I was going to be in the Draft. It's funny now that I look back at it, it's all good, we can laugh at this. But I was sitting at home during the draft and I got told that it was going to happen and I'm like, 'okay cool.'

"Then I didn't hear anything. I was like, 'oh, maybe they changed their minds, I don't know', and then I kind of just went and continued to do NXT. It's just very weird to be told something and then it didn't happen. But I never got a reason why".

Kai returned to the company at SummerSlam 2022, forming the Damage CTRL stable with Bayley and IYO SKY.
