Frankie Kazarian To Relinquish IMPACT X-Division Title

Frankie Kazarian wants a different title instead

Frankie Kazarian's sixth reign as X-Division Champion will only be short.

Kazarian announced on the post-Bound For Glory episode of IMPACT that he was exercising Option C. As a result, he will relinquish the X-Division Championship in exchange for a shot at Josh Alexander's IMPACT World Title. Kazarian made the announcement following Alexander's successful title defence against Bobby Fish.

When Kazarian will challenge for the belt has yet to be revealed although the match is expected to take place at the Over Drive IMPACT Plus special on Friday, November 18.

The AEW star has challenged for the IMPACT World Title before, but not since 2008 when the promotion was TNA. He has unsuccessful challenges against both Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe.

Kazarian only won the X-Division Championship at Bound For Glory on October 7, defeating 'Speedball' Mike Bailey for the gold. The 45-year-old has made several appearances in IMPACT since May, including competing on a team of IMPACT Originals at Slammiversary.
