Dakota Kai Reveals She Had 'Lax Talks' With Other Promotions Before WWE Return
Dakota Kai on talks outside of WWE
Dec 1, 2022
Dakota Kai has had a turbulent 2022, being released by WWE under the Vince McMahon regime after she turned down a new deal in April before she was brought back to the company at July's SummerSlam pay-per-view as the first major signing of the Triple H era.
Speaking about her time out of the company, Kai revealed she did have talks with other promotions but they never progressed into serious discussions.
"The talks never got super far, but we definitely touched base. I didn't hear anything for a few weeks until Triple H contacted me. There were a few independent promotions here and there, but it was 'lax talks' I would say. They never progressed to anything further. At that point in time, I had waited a few weeks. I think it was meant to be when Triple H called me because at that time, I felt good, I felt ready to get back in the ring and sure enough, this guy calls and wants me back. Yeah, there were talks," Kai told Getting Over.
The Captain of Team Kick has been a featured performer on Monday Night Raw since her return, having formed Damage CTRL with Bayley and IYO SKY, recently competing in WarGames at Survivor Series. Kai and SKY are also the reigning WWE Women's Tag Team Champions.
