Daniel Garcia Wins PWG World Title

AEW standout Daniel Garcia is the new PWG World Champion

It was a good night for pro wrestling (and sports entertainment) on May 1 as AEW’s Daniel Garcia became the new Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Champion.

The Jericho Appreciation Society standout won the gold at Delivering the Goods in LA’s Globe Theater, defeating Bandido in the night’s main event, and ending the luchador’s reign at 863 days.

Garcia got the match after winning the 2022 Battle of Los Angeles tournament, and in victory becomes the 25th person to win the PWG World Championship, following in the footsteps of wrestlers such as Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole, Kenny Omega, Walter, Kevin Steen, and Super Dragon amongst others.

After defeating Bandido, Garcia called out DDT Pro’s Konosuke Takeshita, saying he will put the title on the line against the DDT ace at the next PWG show. Takeshita accepted, and said he will be the new PWG World Champion.

Full results for PWG Delivering the Goods:

  • Jack Cartwheel def. Shane Haste
  • Aussie Open (Kyle Davis and Kyle Fletcher) def. World Class Wrecking Crew (Royce Issacs and Jorel Nelson)
  • Jonathan Gresham def. Kevin Blackwood
  • Konosuke Takeshita def. Aramis
