Heading into the recent AEW Full Gear PPV, attention was focused on Omega vs. Page, Punk vs. Kingston, and other matches, with few talking about Darby Allin vs. MJF.

Opening the main show, the two put on arguably the best in-ring bout of the night. And according to Allin he wanted to remind people that the ‘AEW Originals’ are always going to steal the show, telling PWInsider’s Mike Johnson:

"I had a lot going into that match. I wanted to remind people, the fans, the whole wrestling world that no matter who comes into AEW, the AEW originals are going to steal the show. We did just that, I don't care what anyone says. You give me the ball, you're never going to see the ball again. All I needed was a chance. Once I got that chance, I was going to take off running. Going into that match, I had a lot to prove and I felt like I proved it and more. Just my perspective. I don't give a damn what anyone else is doing in the locker room, I don't even talk to people really that much backstage. This is my own mind, just me thinking and giving the company like AEW, a place where I've been able to thrive, and constantly remind everybody what I'm capable of doing.”
