Davey Boy Smith Jr. Still Waiting To Be Assigned A WWE Brand

Still no update on Smith’s future

Earlier this Summer it was reported that Davey Boy Smith Jr. had not been assigned a WWE brand, and as we approach the end of September, there has still been no movement for the former DH Smith.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider Davey Boy Smith Jr. has gone “Nowhere. He signed with WWE but is yet to be officially assigned to a brand.  So, he's in "hurry up and wait" mode, but he's 100% with the company.

There is a chance that WWE could be waiting until the WWE Draft on October 1 before pushing forward with Smith, having originally earmarked the former Hart Dynasty member for a role with NXT UK.

Smith is believed to have re-signed with WWE back in April, with John Laurinaitis said to have been heavily pushing for his signature backstage. Smith originally left WWE in 2011, and subsequently toured NJPW and MLW before his re-signing this year.

In NJPW, Smith was a three-time IWGP Tag Team Champion alongside Lance Archer as the Killer Elite Squad, part of the Suzuki-gun faction.
