Report: Davey Boy Smith Jr. Yet To Be Assigned A WWE Brand

Davey Boy has yet to resurface on TV

Davey Boy Smith Jr. currently finds himself in WWE limbo.

The former David Hart Smith re-signed with WWE back in March or April 2021 and he worked a dark tag team match alongside Austin Theory against Odyssey Jones and Xyon Quinn in July. Smith has yet to resurface on WWE TV, however.

In an update, Mike Johnson of PWInsider noted Smith is still under contract but WWE has yet to assign him to a brand.

Smith previously wrestled in WWE for five years from 2006 until August 2011. He had one reign as one-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions with Tyson Kidd as The Hart Dynasty but the stable would split in late 2010.

Following his release, Davey Boy headed to New Japan Pro-Wrestling, where he had several IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Title reigns with Lance Archer in Suzuki-gun. He also captured the NWA Tag Team Championship with Archer.

Smith started working for MLW in 2018 and he would leave NJPW shortly after and sign full-time with the American promotion. His MLW contract then expired at the end of 2020 which paved the way for him to re-sign with WWE.
