Another MLW Opera Cup tournament is in the books, with Davey Richards taking home the trophy after defeating TJP in the finals.

The two clashed on the latest episode of MLW Alpha (taped as part of the War Chamber sessions on November 6), with Richards getting the win with an ankle lock after a 20-minute battle.

Richards beat Lee Moriarty and Bobby Fish en route to the final, whilst TJP’s route was more complicated having defeated Alex Shelley in the opening round, before pulling out due to injury, then coming back for the final.

This marks the third Opera Cup tournament in MLW history, with the tournament coming out of retirement since Stu Hart last won it in 1948. Since MLW did a deal with the Hart Family to restore the Opera Cup as a tournament, we have seen Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Tom Lawlor win it in 2019 and 2020 respectively.

The win for Davey Richards caps off a successful return to pro wrestling, with Richards coming back to the profession in June, after a hiatus of over three years.
