Founding member of the original Midnight Express, Dennis Condrey, has passed away at the age of 74.

Alongside Bobby Eaton, Condrey served as one half of the Midnight Express tag team, managed by Jim Cornette, becoming one of the most highly regarded tag teams of all time, credited for raising the profile of tag team wrestling. After making his debut back in 1973, Condrey competed across several notable territories and promotions such as the NWA, AWA, Jim Crockett Promotions, Mid South Wrestling, Georgia Championship Wrestling, and more, before eventually retiring in 2011.

Many across professional wrestling have issued tributes such as Ricky Morton, Michael PS Hayes, Nick Aldis, Bobby Fulton, Tully Blanchard, Dustin Rhodes, and many, many more across professional wrestling.

AEW World Tag Team Champion Dax Harwood has also set up a GoFundMe page to help Condrey’s wife cover funeral expenses;

“Dennis Condrey is one half of the greatest tag team of all time, The Midnight Express. For years they brought excitement and entertainment to millions of people. However, as great as he was in the ring, it doesn’t hold a candle to the human being he was. A sweet, God-fearing man who loved his wife Theresa.” Harwood encouraged fans who were touched by Condrey’s work to contribute if they are able. “If Dennis Condrey and the Midnight Express ever brought any amount of joy to your life and you’re able to help, please do. Please send all your thoughts and prayers to Theresa Condrey in her time of need. Godspeed, Loverboy Dennis Condrey.”
