Deonna Purrazzo's NWA Empowerrr Opponent Reportedly Revealed

Deonna Purrazzo's opponent at the upcoming NWA Empowerrr show has reportedly been set. 

Purrazzo, following successfully defending her IMPACT Knockouts Championship at Slammiversary on Saturday evening, was confronted by 'Hardcore Country' Mickie James, making her first appearance in the IMPACT Zone since 2015.

James, having left WWE in April, is serving as the executive producer for NWA's first-ever all female event, Empowerr, which will take place on Saturday 28 August. James would invite Purrazzo to appear at NWA Empowerrr, only to have the offer thrown back in her face by the Champion. James would then lay Purrazzo out with a Superkick.

The interaction seemed to suggest that Purrazzo and James would be meeting at the NWA event next month but Fightful Select is reporting that this is not the plan, and instead Purrazzo is being booked to take on former WWE superstar Melina.

However, per the report, a match between Purrazzo and James is on the cards and being worked towards. It just won't happen at NWA Empowerr on August 28, 2021.
