Carlito caused plenty of controversy on Monday's edition of WWE Raw. The former WWE Intercontinental Champion was involved in a backstage segment with Raw General Manager Adam Pearce, during which Carlito said, "I gotta learn Chinese" after IYO SKY and Kairi Sane walked off.

IYO SKY and Kairi Sane are both from Japan and SKY had previously been on the receiving end of "go back to China" chants from WWE fans.

Fightful Select has reported that Carlito's line was not planned and Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer also stated that multiple sources confirmed Carlito's comments were an ad lib.

Fightful Select further reported that people within WWE were in disbelief over Carlito's comments and a number of people within the company were unhappy the line was said.

WWE have looked to remove Carlito's comments and the line was not included in the social media uploads of the backstage segment.

If Carlito is set to face disciplinary action from WWE over his comments is unknown. The 45-year-old is currently a part of Judgment Day and plans were potentially in motion for him to be kicked out of the stable and receive a singles push.
