DIY holding up WWE Tag Team Titles in the ring

New WWE Tag Team Champions have been crowned, as the DIY duo of Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa defeated The Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley) on last night’s December 6 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, which emanated from the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Originally, Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley were set to defend their WWE Tag Team Championships against The Street Profits, but the scheduled challengers were found attacked backstage. This led to DIY stepping in to replace them.

During the match, Ciampa & Gargano got into each other’s faces once again, continuing a trend from recent weeks of the pair having increased issues. This led to tensions boiling over and Ciampa developing a more vicious streak, definitively turning heel and shoving his partner. On this week’s SmackDown, Gargano joined him on the dark side. As Ciampa distracted the referee, Gargano low blowed Sabin, much to the shock of Shelley. This turn of events allowed DIY to gain an advantage over MCMG, defeating their opponents and beginning their second reign as WWE Tag Team Champions. Their first reign spanned over just 28 days.
