WWE’s acquisition of AAA has seen a fair bit of crossover thus far on both AAA and WWE programming, and that continued with AAA’s event last night in Mexico, with multiple stars showing with big implications for future shows.
During the show, reigning AAA Mega Champion El Hijo del Vikingo emerged to find his next challenger ahead of TripleMania XXXIII next month. He was answered by Dragon Lee, no stranger to working in AAA, and El Grande Americano, who wrestled earlier on in the night in a winning effort against Octagon Jr. Both Vikingo and Lee took out Americano, but not before another masked man hit the ring to lay them out. This turned out to be a surprise appearance from Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio, who was revealed to a massive pop from the crowd.
It was soon announced that Mysterio, Americano and Lee would all challenge Vikingo for the AAA Mega Championship next month at TripleMania. Also at the show, Alberto el Patron’s time in AAA may have come to an end, as he was screwed out of a Loser Leaves AAA bout against Mesias. It was noted recently that WWE were considering sending Omos over to work in AAA.
