Drew McIntyre Challenges GUNTHER To WWE WrestleMania 39 Match

Drew McIntyre Has Challenged GUNTHER For The Intercontinental Championship At WWE WrestleMania 39

There has been a lot of talk about what the reigning Intercontinental Champion, GUNTHER, is set to do at WrestleMania 39 this year. Matches with the likes of Sheamus and Brock Lesnar have been thrown around, but it finally looks as though his WrestleMania plans are beginning to take shape, with fans now getting an insight into what lies ahead.

During the SmackDown LowDown on WWE’s YouTube channel, Drew McIntyre issued a challenge to GUNTHER, following up on staring him down during Imperium’s trios match against Braun Strowman, Ricochet, & Madcap Moss on the February 24 episode of SmackDown.

When asked about his motives for doing this, all he had to say was, “It’s five weeks until WrestleMania. I want GUNTHER and I want the Intercontinental Championship.” This very much seems like the path WWE is now taking, though Sheamus has also made his title intentions clear too, so a huge triple threat match could potentially be in the works.

McIntyre hasn’t been Intercontinental Champion since 2010 during his first stint with the company, losing the gold to Kofi Kingston at the Over The Limit PPV.
