After much anticipation, Drew McIntyre emerged victorious from his encounter with CM Punk in one of the headline matches at SummerSlam 2024.

The match was very much dominated by Seth Rollins being the special guest referee and CM Punk's obsession with the friendship bracelet with AJ Lee and Larry's names on it that had been stolen by Drew McIntyre.

The friendship bracelet bounced around the ring during the match and it was eventually picked up by Seth Rollins, who put it on to look after for Punk as the match continued. Punk wasn't having that, though, and he decided to confront Rollins which led to a ref bump after McIntyre pushed Punk into Rollins. Punk then managed to connect with the Go To Sleep to McIntyre but the bump meant Rollins took a long time getting back into the ring and McIntyre kicked out at two.

This led to a shouting match between Punk and Rollins, with Punk eventually just laying out the referee with a Go To Sleep. Punk then retrieved his bracelet but simply ate a Low Blow and Claymore from Drew McIntyre before Rollins recovered and reluctantly counted the 1-2-3.

After all of that, Drew McIntyre simply took back the bracelet anyway and celebrated by putting his foot on Punk.

CM Punk and Drew McIntyre have been feuding for the past several months since Punk suffered a torn triceps following a Futureshock DDT from McIntyre in the men’s Royal Rumble match in January. McIntyre attacked Punk following the injury and the ‘Second City Saviour’ has since done everything in his power to prevent McIntyre from holding the World Heavyweight Championship.

Punk first attacked McIntyre after Drew won the belt at WrestleMania 40 which provided the opening for Damian Priest to successfully cash in his Money in the Bank contract. Punk then cost McIntyre the World Heavyweight Title at Clash at the Castle in Glasgow before the former ROH World Champion disrupted McIntyre’s own cash-in at Money in the Bank, taking him out to help Priest retain once again.
