Drew McIntyre No Closer To Signing New WWE Deal

Drew McIntyre and WWE no closer to agreeing a deal

Drew McIntyre’s WWE status has been the subject of much speculation for most of 2023, with the former WWE Champion’s deal set to expire in the next year.

McIntyre potentially leaving the company had been speculated on before he made his return at Money in the Bank on July 1. McIntyre and WWE are believed to be in discussions over a new deal, but a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggests that the two sides are no closer to agreeing new terms.

Both sides are believed to have been in contract discussions for a while, with McIntyre’s current deal believed to have been extended through WrestleMania XL in April 2024, with time added on to cover absences due to injury. Per Meltzer, whilst talks are ongoing, ‘nothing of note lately has changed’, with no progress made over terms of a new deal.

McIntyre returned to WWE in 2017 after several years with TNA and on the indies, with McIntyre climbing the ranks and winning the WWE Championship on two occasions. With the merger with UFC under the TKO Group banner now complete, it is suggested that contract talks will resume now that the takeover has been fully completed.
