Drew McIntyre WWE Return Update

Drew McIntyre has been absent from WWE programming for several months, but a return could be on the horizon.

The multi-time WWE Champion has not been seen since losing to Jacob Fatu at WrestleMania XLII in April 2026, with McIntyre having taking a leave of absence to film outside projects, including a reboot of 80s classic Highlander. However, a report from PWInsider states that McIntyre has recently been spotted at WWE HQ in Stamford, Connecticut.

The reason for McIntyre’s visit is believed to have been to conduct meetings with WWE officials, as well as to film promotional material for upcoming WWE ‘micro dramas’ that McIntyre has starred in alongside other WWE names such as Jacob Fatu, and Joe Hendry.

Whilst nothing concrete, McIntyre being around WWE in any capacity is a good sign, and it remains to be seen if he makes a return to WWE TV before the year is out. Reports in Summer 2026 suggested there had been no creative discussions regarding McIntyre’s return.

As well as Highlander, and the afore-mentioned WWE ‘micro dramas’, McIntyre has also filmed a part for The Last Druid, a Russell Crowe historical drama.
