Report: AEW Expected To Be 'Interested' In Hiring Sheamus

Sheamus is officially a free agent after the expiration of his WWE contract, and reports suggest All Elite Wrestling could be interested in hiring the multi-time world champion.

One of the more surprising names let go by WWE in 2026, fans have long speculated that the ‘Celtic Warrior’ could end up becoming ‘All Elite’. A report from Fightful Select suggests it is not out of the realms of possibility, and although there have been no discussions between the two sides there is expected to be interest in bringing Sheamus into AEW, with a source noting that there is some support within the AEW locker-room for bringing Sheamus in.

Sheamus exited WWE after the expiration of his deal, reportedly declining offers to take a pay cut and choosing instead to end his 19-year run in the promotion.

AEW have signed several former WWE acts already in 2026, bringing in the likes of the Motor City Machine Guns, and The New Day (fka The New Day). Former WWE United States Champion Ilja Dragunov is also widely believed to have agreed a deal with AEW, but is yet to make his debut in the promotion.
