Sheamus Believed To Be Interested In Wrestling For AEW

Sheamus may well be interested in performing for All Elite Wrestling following his WWE departure.

WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select has reported that a person close to Sheamus believes he would welcome the idea of wrestling for AEW if the right situation presented itself. This includes even competing in All Elite Wrestling on a short-term basis.

It was revealed on July 5 that Sheamus was leaving WWE upon the expiry of his contract with the organisation. Sheamus had been asked to take a pay cut by WWE while he was on the shelf with an injury, but the four-time world champion turned that down and decided to leave the company when his contract expired. Sheamus' departure ends his association with WWE after 19 years.

There has reportedly been a mixed response within AEW about the prospect of the promotion signing Sheamus. There is expected to be many AEW talents who will push for the company to bring in the 48-year-old, but it has also been noted that others in the AEW locker room "weren't really thrilled" about the idea of him signing due to the size of the promotion's roster already. Another potential stumbling block could be that Sheamus is represented by Nick LoPiccolo, an agent who has a contentious relationship with AEW and Tony Khan.

In an update on Sheamus' WWE departure, WrestleVotes Radio noted a high-level member of the WWE office "went to bat" for Sheamus with TKO, detailing the value he provided to WWE outside of his in-ring work. Those talks seemingly failed, however, as Sheamus is leaving WWE.
