Eddie Kingston Says The Crowd Made His ROH Title Win Even Bigger

Eddie Kingston appreciated the fans at Grand Slam

Eddie Kingston has had a huge week following a massive victory at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam. He took on his long-time rival Claudio Castagnoli in a Title vs. Title match, walking out as both ROH World Champion and the NJPW Strong Openweight Champion.

He achieved this victory in front of a hometown New York crowd, who were absolutely electric for the night’s opening bout. Kingston would talk about his victory to Sports Illustrated, and whilst he wasn’t overly thrilled with his own performance, he said that the crowd elevated the match.

“You know me, I’m always hard on myself. I think I always could have done better. But the crowd was the best part. I’m biased, but New Yorkers, they’re the best. They don’t just cheer for you, they fight for you. I saw it all the time at Yankee Stadium. It’s how we are. The match was fine, but the crowd made it feel bigger. They took it from a four to a ten.”

Kingston would go on to say that the crowd’s love and adoration does make him nervous due to him not being used to it, but he loves it nonetheless.
