Eddy Thorpe was part of the group of NXT stars who were released by WWE in May. According to the man himself, this was at his own request.
Responding to a fan on X/Twitter (who was commenting on the 34-year-old's recent political posts), Thorpe wrote: "I asked for my release from WWE so I could do something f*cking meaningful with my life".
Thorpe later added: "I set the goal to work there. I spent a decade working for it. I got it. And in my experience I came to the conclusion I didn't want to do it".
The former NXT star also pointed out what he perceived as unfairness, writing: "No. WWE wouldn't let me DJ for free in Vegas mania weekend. While other talent got to make money on their outside ventures".
Thorpe is currently in a relationship Dakota Kai, who was also released by WWE in May.
Real name Karl Fredericks, Thorpe is a product of the New Japan dojo system. He opted against re-signing with NJPW in 2022, having expressed frustration at being left out of that year's G1 Climax tournament.
