Elayna Black is back on the Indies with a bang, winning her first championship since her WWE exit earlier this Summer.
Black - fka Cora Jade - was released by WWE as part of a round of roster cuts following WrestleMania XLI in May, returning to the Indies in June with a singles loss to Joey Janela at GCW Bangin’ In Little Rock. However, during Black’s debut for Arizona Wrestling Federation at their All-American Grand Slam event on June 28, Black defeated Brittnie Brooks to lift the AWF Women’s Championship - the first singles title of Black’s career.
Originally signing with WWE in January 2021, Black would mainly compete for NXT during her four year stay, lifting the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships with Roxanne Perez in July 2022. Jade’s time in WWE was hampered by injury, and her release was one of the more shocking from NXT.
Post-WWE exit, Black revealed that she was originally hopeful of signing with All Elite Wrestling in 2021 before WWE swooped in, and it remains to be seen if Elayna Black will ever return to an AEW ring, having wrestled two matches on AEW Dark in October 2020.
