WWE's booking was criticised this week following Austin Theory's unsuccessful Money in the Bank cash-in.

Theory cashed in the briefcase on Raw during Seth Rollins' open challenge for the United States Championship. Instead of just answering the open challenge, though, Theory gave Bobby Lashley the opportunity to answer and The All Mighty subsequently beat down Rollins before the referee rang the bell.

Technically, Rollins' open challenge had not been answered but Theory looked to take advantage of the situation by cashing in his MITB contract instead of just accepting Rollins' offer. The former EVOLVE Champion was then punished as Lashley cost him the win by pulling the referee out of the ring before he attacked Theory. Rollins then retained the title following a Stomp.

Appearing on WWE's The Bump, Elias questioned why Theory cashed in his contract during an open challenge, admitting he found the situation bizarre.

"I'm gonna be honest here. I thought the whole thing was a little bit bizarre. First off, it's an open challenge. So what are you doing in the first place? Secondly, then he wants to use it on a random Monday Night Raw. If I was Austin Theory and I had the Money in the Bank, I would have waited for a way bigger moment, and maybe somebody like Roman Reigns when they were vulnerable. So hey I get it. Seth, he's resilient, he did it again, he came out on top. But as for Austin Theory, I think the whole thing's bizarre all around," Elias said.
