AEW held their fifth annual Full Gear PPV main event last weekend on November 18, and it was a show which notably saw the brutal deathmatch between Swerve Strickland and Adam Page, new TBS & Women’s World Champions crowned in Toni Storm and Julia Hart, and a controversial main event between MJF and Jay White for the AEW World Championship.

Tony Khan threw out an early ballpark number at the post-show media scrum when it comes to PPV buys, implying they were up from last month’s inaugural WrestleDream event and at least over 100,000. Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter followed this up with some estimates. Meltzer stated that Full Gear drew between 122,000 and 140,000 buys this year. Last year’s event was around the 140,000 number, so if late buys come through, then the numbers will be consistent with 2022.

More exact numbers will eventually emerge, but these early estimates indicate that AEW Full Gear 2023 was a success financially from the PPV buyrate perspective.
