Andrade's second run with WWE came to a sudden end on Saturday, September 13 after it emerged the 35-year-old had been moved to the alumni section of WWE's website, with it being reported soon after that Andrade had been released by the company.

Unlike other WWE exits in 2025, Andrade's release was unrelated to roster cuts and his departure was very much an isolated situation.

Why Andrade Was Released

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer and The Takedown on SI have both reported that Andrade's release by WWE was related to a disciplinary issue. SI noted that Andrade had at least one wellness policy violation during his latest run with the company, which resulted in him being suspended without pay, although it is unknown if the suspension directly led to Andrade's release.

Andrade was sent home from a mid-August taping of Friday Night SmackDown due to his most recent suspension, and the former United States Champion was escorted out of the building.

Cory Hays of BodySlam noted that WWE had tried to reach Andrade for several weeks, but they were unable to get in contact with him. PWInsider noted Andrade had travelled to South America, so this was seemingly the reason for WWE being unable to reach him.

Scrapped WWE Plans For Andrade

Andrade had been in a tag team with Rey Fenix at the time of being removed from the SmackDown taping. Fightful Select has reported that Andrade and Rey Fenix were originally planned for WWE Clash in Paris to challenge the Wyatt Sicks for the WWE Tag Team Championships.

The match ultimately didn't take place, and the Wyatt Sicks instead defended the belts against the Street Profits at Clash in Paris.

What's Next For Andrade?

Andrade's next destination following his WWE release is unknown, but he was previously a part of All Elite Wrestling prior to his WWE return in January 2024.

Could Andrade become the first wrestler to jump ship twice since the formation of AEW? Fightful Select reported that AEW were unaware of Andrade's exit from WWE, but "no bridge is truly burned in AEW", suggesting a return isn't out of the question.

Andrade also regularly wrestled on the indies during his AEW stint, and he made a high-profile return to CMLL in December 2023, just weeks before his exit from All Elite Wrestling.
