Following his retirement from football in May, Adebayo Akinfenwa is trying his hand at professional wrestling and 'Beast Mode' will make his in-ring debut at PROGRESS Wrestling Chapter 146: They Think It's All Over when he teams with Anthony Ogogo against Malik and Kosta. The show will take place on Sunday, November 27 at Camden's Electric Ballroom.

Akinfenwa has flirted with professional wrestling for some time and the former strongest man on FIFA revealed to Cultaholic Wrestling's Tom Campbell how close he came to appearing in WWE.

"There were conversations. There was truth in the conversations. My team sat down with their team. Me and Triple H had sent messages back and forth but these were times when I was 100% concentrated on football. Now I'm retired and I've said this, I was lucky enough to play for 22 years but now I've finished, I'm going to try my hand at as many different things and what lands, lands. I'm going to try and enjoy the next chapter of my life," Akinfenwa said.

While he ultimately did not appear in WWE, Akinfenwa has not ruled out potentially debuting in All Elite Wrestling. Find out more here.
