Scott D'Amore has admitted there was some trepidation from TNA Wrestling in working with him on Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling following the former TNA President's firing earlier this year.

Speaking with Cultaholic's Tom Campbell, D'Amore revealed it was a process due to TNA Bound For Glory taking place in Detroit a week after Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling's debut shows. The venue for BFG in the Wayne State University Fieldhouse is only 20 minutes away from Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

"It was a process. It was a process, and we got there at the end of the day. Any time you have a parting of the ways there's going to be some trepidation and stuff like that and I think there was some of that on TNA's side. But we sat down and got to it and sorted through it. I would say it was the tougher one to get done and across the finish line. But I think that's to be expected," D'Amore said.

After detailing how easy it was to work with the likes of AEW and NJPW, D'Amore added:

"It was the tougher one but I mean ultimately everybody looked at it and said, 'How are we going to affect each other in a grand scale?' I think the biggest hiccup, probably, or concern on their side was when I planned on running these shows I did it and chose Windsor, obviously. I live here, I have the venue, it's our venue and our home for many years.

"The plans for TNA from what I understand were to be somewhere far, far away from here. And then they pivoted and put their shows the very next week in Detroit. Windsor and Detroit are side by side, I fly out of Detroit Airport, it takes me 20 to 30 minutes to get there. So there was certainly do you want somebody running a bigger show, bigger in the sense of a bigger independent show, where you're running one of your signature events days later? So I think that raised some concerns...It was just a matter of sitting back and looking and saying, 'Hey we're close by but we're actually in totally different markets.'

"Happy to have that cross the finish line. I would not have wanted to have these debut events without Josh Alexander and "Speedball" Mike Bailey there because they are the faces, as far as I'm concerned, of the revitalisation of the Canadian wrestling scene."
