Exclusive: WWE's Finn Balor "Loves" The Forbidden Door

Will Finn go through the Forbidden Door?

The Forbidden Door has been well and truly opened over the last year.

Relations between AEW and New Japan Pro-Wrestling were cold during Harold Meij's time as NJPW president, but the two companies started working together in early 2021 and the likes of Minoru Suzuki, Yuji Nagata, and Satoshi Kojima have all shown up on AEW programming. Other promotions have also begun collaborating in the last year and AAA, IMPACT Wrestling, NJPW, and AEW have all shared talent.

WWE have continued to remain largely aloof from such working relationships, but former NXT Champion Finn Balor revealed to Cultaholic Wrestling's Tom Campbell that he loves the idea of the Forbidden Door.

"I love the idea of the Forbidden Door. I feel like, if I have the opportunity to wrestle in Japan or Mexico or in Europe, for whatever promotion, I would love the opportunity to be able to do it," Balor said.

"Obviously, contractually and with WWE, they take care of all my dates and my travel, so they organise everything. But if we can somehow set up a working relationship between WWE and these other brands from around the world, I would love to challenge myself against performers in different regions."

If WWE will take their own trip through the Forbidden Door ultimately remains to be seen. The company reportedly held talks with Major League Wrestling and NJPW earlier this year but no deals were struck.
